Water Authority participates in water and sanitation meetings in Costa Rica

Ramallah: Represented by the Water Authority, Palestine participated in the high-level Ministers’ Meeting held in San Jose- Costa Rica, devoted to discussing the issues of water, sanitation, hygiene targets, and the sustainable development goals, specifically the sixth objective. The meeting was organized by the UNICEF Organization (SWA) and attended by over 65 minister of water, sanitation, and infrastructure from 60 countries, as well as representatives of civil society, donors and organizations active in the water sector.                                                        

The meeting focused on the obligations of states in delivering water and sanitation services to people, work to assess the status of water and sanitation sector in participating countries, and the study of mechanisms that Governments and civil society organizations working on them for not leaving anyone behind ,through focusing on a range of issues to include strong leadership, sustainable financing, monitoring and accountability, and participatory planning which is led by the government, as well as adopt human rights as guiding principles, and assess how to meet the needs of less fortunate countries to get Water, and create effective laws and regulations.
