Eng. Ghunaim meets the President and Secretary General of the Arab Water Council

Cairo: In his quest to strengthen strategic relations with Arab organizations specialized in the water field, Head of Water Authority Eng. Mazen Ghunaim discussed several water issues, and prospects for future cooperation with the President of the Arab Water Council, Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, and the Secretary-General of the Arab Water Council Dr. Hussein Al-Atfy.

The meeting discussed several of the proposed programs to raise the capabilities of workers in the water sector, which are considered a need for the water sector in Palestine and Arab countries. The meeting also discussed future projects and programs that can be organized jointly between the two parties, including Programs for preparing studies and employing modern technology.

The meeting focused on the prospects for future cooperation in organizing the Fourth Arab Water Conference, which will be organized by the State of Palestine under the auspices of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, to serve water security issues for Arab countries, according to the decisions of the last session of the Arab Ministerial Council for Water of the League of Arab States, the opportunities for cooperation in organizing Arab Water events were also presented in the framework of promoting joint Arab action and integration in dealing with and raising Arab Water issues, including the 5th Arab Water Council Conference 2020.

The meeting also focused on the need to find new regional and international strategic partnerships that serve the water sector in the Arab region, as discussed the partnership with the Arab Water Council in organizing the second Palestine International Water Forum. At the end of the meeting, Eng. Ghunaim invited the presidency, members and partners of the Arab Water Council to attend and participate in Palestine, stressing that the Arab presence in this event is the embodiment of constructive Arab cooperation and Arab will and the affirmation of the Arab-Palestinian right and history in Palestine in the face of the expansionist occupation plans.

It is noteworthy that the Arab Water Council was established in 2004 as an independent regional organization, operating regionally and internationally, and aims to strengthen the effective partnership with development partners to achieve water security in the Arab region, through cooperation between different sectors and parties and working with common approaches at international, regional and national levels to promote integrated solutions and implement sustainable development goals.
