A Dutch delegation inspects the water facilities in Gaza

The Water Authority received a Dutch delegation headed by Mr. Kees van Baar, the Representative of the Netherlands to the Palestinian Territories.

The delegation toured the water facilities in the north and center of the Gaza Strip to inspect the damage caused to the water sector after the recent Israeli aggression.

The Dutch delegation visited the wastewater treatment plant in northern Gaza, the pumping station, and drainage basins in Beit Lahia, which faced a threat after wastewater was pumped into it, as a result of the targeting of the main water conveyor line linking it to the plant during the aggression period.

The delegation also visited the Nusseirat water tank in the central Gaza Strip, which is one of four newly established tanks with the support of the Kuwait Fund for Development, and which comes within the project of attached works to the central desalination plant.

Meanwhile, the Water Authority held a meeting with the representative of the Netherlands and the accompanying delegation, in the presence of representatives of the Water Authority and representatives of UNICEF and the United Nations Office. The meeting aimed to discuss the efforts exerted to complete the procedures for bringing in materials and equipment necessary for the implementation of projects, allowing the movement of experts and technicians to and from the Gaza Strip, and ways to overcome Israeli obstacles and restrictions in this regard.
