Palestinian Water Authority completes urgent maintenance on main water pipeline serving Beitlehem and the surrounding areas

Ramallah: Last night, the technical team for the Palestinian Water Authority in Beitlehem area, and in cooperation with Dar Salah Municipality, al-‘Beidiyeh Municipality and Joint Services Council for East Beitlehem Rural Areas, completed emergency maintenance work for the main water pipeline coming from Mekorot al-Quds 6, which supplies areas of al-‘Beidiyeh, Dar Salah, Beit Sahour, al-Shawawreh, and several neighboring communities.

This line is considered one of the most important water sources supplying Beitlehem with water, as its continuous operation is a top priority to guarantee access of water to citizens with uninterrupted access.

In its press release, the Water Authority stated that the maintenance work was carried out urgently following water leaks and pipe ruptures caused by the aging and deterioration of the networks. The specialized technical teams conducted a continuous around-the-clock operation over the past several days extending into the late hours of the night, to ensure the repair of the damage and the gradual restoration of water supply to the affected areas in Hebron and Bethlehem governorates.

The Water Authority emphasized that these efforts come in the context of its continuous plan to improve the performance of water networks, and enhance the efficiency of water supply in a manner that guarantees the stability and sustainability of the service, despite the current technical   challenges.
