Ramallah: Head of the Palestinian Water Authority, Dr. Ziad Mimi, met with Mr. Nasser Jawabra, Mayor of Asira Al-Shamaliya, and members of the Municipal Council to review the town’s water supply situation, challenges facing its water system, and measures to improve network efficiency and water service quality.
The meeting focused on the municipality’s water supply from Nablus Municipality, associated financial obligations, high levels of water losses, network rehabilitation needs, and plans to extend new water lines.
Dr. Ziad Mimi emphasized the importance of reaching agreement between Asira Al-Shamaliya and Nablus municipalities on clear and effective working mechanisms to address the existing situation and strengthen water service management.
Dr. Ziad Mimi stressed the need to reduce water losses and improve network efficiency to enhance water supply and optimize the use of available water resources.
The meeting also explored the possibility of providing the town with the pipes required to install a 6-inch-diameter water line, subject to available resources and the project’s technical priorities.
The two sides discussed including the water line project among projects proposed for funding and exploring opportunities to secure the necessary financing for its implementation, in line with established priorities and available resources.
Dr. Ziad Mimi highlighted the importance of addressing the municipality’s financial situation and regularizing its financial obligations to Nablus Municipality, alongside continued efforts to develop the water system and improve water service management.
