Preliminary assessments of the damage indicate that more than 80-85% of water and sanitation facilities are out of service, partially or completely. These require rehabilitation (including wastewater treatment plant, pumping stations, desalination plants, water reservoir, main transmission lines, water and wastewater systems, and stormwater drainage,…etc). It should be noted that most utilities which will be restored after implementing emergency maintenance works do not work efficiently as required, as a result of the vast damage caused to the system as a whole, and the absence of sufficient fuel to operate the facilities using generators.
