Tulkarm wastewater system and production of renewable energy

The project is part of a national initiative extending from Tulkarem to the Jordan Valley and includes the construction of a wastewater treatment plant for Tulkarem and neighboring municipalities, along with pipelines, pumping stations, central reservoirs, the Malaki Dam, renewable energy generation facilities (both hydroelectric and solar), and a distribution network for agricultural reuse. The project was planned in coordination with Israeli authorities to control deductions made under the pretext of treating transboundary wastewater, with expected savings of over 15 million shekels annually from such deductions. It also fulfills Palestinian obligations under the relevant agreement, including the closure of wastewater collection ponds west of Tulkarm, converting them into a solar energy plant, connecting the sewer pipelines to the Israeli treatment plant, and constructing a conveyance line from the Western Nablus plant to the western border of the West Bank near Tulkarem.
