Participation in the sixth Arab Ministerial Meeting for water

Jordan-Dead Sea

A delegation from Palestinian Water Authority, headed by Head of Water Authority, Dr. Ziyad Al-Mimi participated in the activities of the Sixth Water Conference under the theme "Governance Towards  Achieving Sustainable Development in water".

The conference is an important platform for exchanging knowledge and challenges in the management of water resources in the Arab region. It provides a forum to discuss policies and formulate visions which contribute in enhancing joint Arab cooperation towards managing water resources, in a way enhancing sustainable development, as well as meeting the needs of people in the future, while producing tangible outcomes and practical recommendations that contribute to the development of policies and systems, and ensuring water management in a way that balances economic growth with environmental preservation.

During his participation, Dr. Ziyad al-Mimi highlighted the suffering of Gaza’s residents caused by Israeli policies and crimes which aim to deprive and starve the population, as a tool to advance political agendas. These measures are designed to break the Palestinian resilience and forcibly displace them in favor of illegal settlement projects. He also reviewed the water situation and the main challenges facing the development of water sector and the fulfillment of  water needs.

Dr. al-Mimi called on the international community, as well as Arab countries and organizations, to support urgent interventions to provide water to the people of Gaza, in order to alleviate their sufferings in the face of Israeli crimes, where water has been used as a weapon against civilians, with disregard for international humanitarian laws and treaties.
