Participation in the Arab Ministerial Meeting for water

Dead Sea: Head Dr. Ziyad al-Mimi participated in the activities of the Arab Ministerial Meeting for water held in the Dead Sea-Jordan, Hashemite Kingdom.

Dr. al-Mimi called upon the international community to pressure Israel “The occupying power” to an immediate cease-fire, and to stop using basic services as a collective punishment against our people. He urged them to take instant measures to deliver the humanitarian assistance in a secure way, and to support the efforts of the Palestinian government who work in difficult situations and poor capacities due to systematic restrictions by the occupation. Such support is important for the resilience of the Palestinian people on its land, and to provide essentials of life, chief among them water. 

The Arab Ministerial Council took a series of decisions aiming at the support of water situation in Palestine through calling upon countries and Arab Funds to support urgent interventions in Gaza, and to support WA plan to manage water sector and the existing emergency situation. The council also called upon the joint Arab action to mobilize support for water issues in special international forums. Additionally, existing bilateral relations with a number of Arab countries that contribute to the development of the Palestinian water sector were reviewed, and several countries and organizations expressed their interest in forming cooperation with the Palestinian water sector to support it during this difficult period.
