Driven by our belief that society, in all its segments, is our key partner in efforts to develop the water and wastewater sector and to address the difficult challenges it faces, we have ensured that the website serves as a link and an interactive platform capable of providing valuable information about the Palestinian water sector. It also aims to automate the services provided by the Palestinian Water Authority and to keep the public continuously informed of the latest developments and achievements within the sector.
Recognizing that water has a serious political dimension alongside its vital, economic, and social aspects, we have ensured that the website serves as a channel for conveying important messages to the world. It highlights how the occupation uses water as a tool to oppress the Palestinian people and undermine their resilience.
The fundamental principle is that every individual, without discrimination, should enjoy the right to water—ensuring access to sufficient, safe, and affordable water, in accordance with the United Nations’ definition of the human right to water. However, referring to this definition and applying it to the Palestinian context clearly illustrates to the world the magnitude of the challenges imposed by the occupation on the Palestinian water sector in achieving this goal, through its arbitrary water policies imposed without any regard for international laws and conventions.
Despite these difficult challenges, under the directives of His Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas may – God protect him, and in implementation of the directives of Palestinian government, we continue our efforts to serve the Palestinian citizen and support their steadfastness on their land. This is achieved through planning that responds to local and international developments, and by setting priorities for programs and projects that address urgent needs within the available technical and economic capacities.
At the same time, we move forward with the Palestinian Water Authority’s core responsibility of strengthening the governance of the water sector and supporting the establishment of efficient institutions capable of meeting the aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Given the extremely difficult water situation in Gaza—which has reached a very critical level with the disruption of water and wastewater systems as a result of the Israeli aggression—we will continue the efforts that began from the very first day of the aggression to provide as much water as possible to our people there during this challenging period. This will be followed by a phase of rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, so that it may return, God willing, to what it once was through the determination and efforts of its people.
We hope that the Palestinian Water Authority's website fulfilling our aspirations in strengthening our relationship with our community and partners in a way that serves our shared goals. We also welcome receiving your views and suggestions in order to further develop the website in line with your expectations and aspirations.
