Ramallah: In the context of discussing the allocation of land plots in the Tubas and Nablus governorates to prepare a strategic project for transferring treated water from the Western Nablus wastewater treatment plant towards the Jordan Valley, the Minister of the Land Authority, Mr. ‘Alaa al-Tamimi, met today with Minister Dr. Ziyad al-Mimi.
During the meeting, al-Mimi stressed that this project represents a qualitative leap in the water and wastewater sector. It will contribute to the provision of non-conventional water resources, reduce reliance on transboundary water, protect the environment, and decrease pollution. In addition, the reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture will support both food and water security.
The Minister, in turn, highlighted the importance of the project from a national and developmental aspect. He assured the commitment of the Land Authority to support the joint governmental efforts to facilitate the allocation of the required lands to expedite the implementation of this vital project in order to serve thousands of residents.
The meeting was attended by staff from Water Authority, including Legal adviser, Hala Abu al-Hawa, Eng. Rawan Is’eed, Director of Reform Program Unit, Mr. Mahmoud Mizher, Director of Financial and Administrative Affairs, and Eng. ‘Abdallah al-Ka’bi. From the Land Authority, Mr. Sadeq Abu Za’nuneh, Director General of State Property, also attended.
Both parties agreed to finalize the legal and technical procedures, establish a joint committee to follow up on land allocation and address any potential obstacles, within the framework of integrated cooperation between the two institutions, to serve the public interest and advance national infrastructure.
