Ramallah: In light of the extensive destruction inflicted on water infrastructure as a result of the recent aggression, Water Authority teams in the Gaza Strip continue to carry out urgent relief operations to secure water supplies for residents returning to their homes in the city of Khan Younis.
Technical crews are distributing limited quantities of water באמצעות tankers as part of an emergency response plan aimed at meeting citizens’ basic needs, after the destruction of water networks caused a complete disruption of potable water services in the city.
The Water Authority affirmed that its efforts are ongoing in cooperation with international organizations and the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility, despite significant field challenges and shortages of equipment and technical resources. It stressed that the priority at this stage is to ensure the delivery of safe and usable water.
The Water Authority called on the international community and humanitarian institutions to provide the necessary support to accelerate the rehabilitation of water infrastructure in Khan Younis and other affected areas across the Gaza Strip, warning of a worsening humanitarian crisis if water shortages persist.
