The continued incursions in the West Bank have led to extensive destruction of water and wastewater infrastructure, further exacerbating the already difficult water situation and leaving displaced populations in urgent need of reliable water sources.
Due to the frequency and persistence of these incursions—particularly in the refugee camps of the Jenin and Tulkarem governorates—there are currently no comprehensive statistical figures accurately reflecting the full extent of damage to the water and wastewater sectors. This is especially the case given the systematic destruction of infrastructure and the ongoing emergency repairs carried out by local authorities.
According to reports issued by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the aggression targeting the refugee camps of Jenin, Tulkarem, Noor Shams, and Al-Far'a has resulted in the widespread forced displacement of thousands of citizens. The majority of displaced persons, as indicated by assessments conducted by local community institutions and host community authorities, are in urgent need of adequate and safe water supplies.
At present, the Palestinian Water Authority is coordinating closely with all water service providers across the governorates, with particular focus on Jenin and Tulkarem. In parallel, the Authority is working through the Government Operations Room to implement a series of emergency interventions aimed at ensuring the provision of water to affected communities.
